How do you get free ringtones for the iPhone?

My friend always got free ringtones. Like actual songs. Is there an App you need to buy for this or what?

1. you will need to make them yourself. You can't have the ringtone texted to your iphone. You need to make them, download them to your pc, then sync then via itunes. 3. You can make them yourself. Edit an MP3 file in a program like Audacity. Put it into iTunes, and convert it to AAC (.m4a). Then, change the extension to .m4r and re-import to iTunes.
4. The way I do it is the easiest. I use my MacBook. It has GarageBand on it already. I just import a song from my iTunes library into it. Then there's a button in one of the dropdown toolbars that says Send Ringtone To iTunes. The last step is just adjust the little yellow bar to set the length of the ringtone. I love it.
